The College of Education is a dynamic academic unit characterized by quality instruction, innovative partnerships with community, and strong and steady growth. Private support for the college helps create an intellectual environment that promotes quality instruction, significant research, and professional service.

As part of the university's comprehensive campaign, the College of Education has identified the following key fundraising priorities:

Learning Garden/Education Commons
Hands-on experience is a vital tool for students to learn visually and actively, and the learning garden provides opportunities to incorporate fields of learning--such as geology, botany, environmental science, history, literature, and mathematics--into designed areas and features.  This space will be a multiuse space for classroom instruction, college events and award ceremonies, Lynn Bennett ECEC graduation activities, etc.

Lecture Series/Endowed Lecture Series
The College of Education encourages naming opportunities for distinguished lectureships, the dean’s lecture series, and departmental visiting lecture series. A distinguished lectureship is reserved for a select position to be filled by a top scholar who becomes a part of the campus community for a specified period, but who typically does not accept a permanent position on the faculty. A dean’s lecture series will bring to southern Nevada community a variety of outstanding individuals with broad experience and expertise for presentations that will have community-wide and interdisciplinary appeal on topics incident to education, while a departmental visiting lecture series brings a variety of individuals with experience and expertise relevant to the special interests of a particular program unit in the college.

Scholarships and Fellowships
Donors can establish an annual named scholarship with a minimum gift of $4,000 and an endowed scholarship with a minimum gift of $25,000 from cash, securities, real estate, or personal property.

Classrooms for tomorrow
Refreshed classrooms will provide a stimulating, state-of-the-art environment for inquiry and exploration. They also serve as a repository and library for materials and resources to be utilized for the demonstration of effective classroom practices in mathematics, science, and social studies.  This is a great naming opportunity for a donor wanting to leave a lasting legacy or a memorial.

Unrestricted support for the college
The Dean’s Associates program offers the opportunity for unrestricted support of academic programs and research, as well as student, faculty and staff support.  For example, Dean’s Associates funds could be used for:
  • Student, faculty & staff professional development
  • Seed grants for new research
  • Unusual hardship for student(s)
  • Assistance funding professional staff position
  • Faculty travel
  • Enhancing reputation of the College and its programs

"Invent the Future"
Major support for the college will create endless opportunities for tomorrow's educational leaders. In honor of a significant gift, a donor may name the College of Education or endowed faculty chairs or professorships.
