The Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering provides high-quality civil and environment, computer science, electrical, and mechanical engineering programs for its undergraduate and graduate students. Private support will help the students and faculty in the college find resolution for real-world engineering programs and provide the thorough understanding of mathematical and scientific fundamentals essential to the infrastructure of our growing community.

As part of the university's comprehensive campaign, the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering has identified the following key fundraising priorities:

Science and Engineering Building
The Science, Engineering and Technology Building is a major step in increasing momentum for Nevada's economic diversification effort. The building will showcase a breadth of compelling programs and will attract students into high-demand fields, such as computer science, environmental science, and electrical engineering.

Entertainment engineering--Black Box Theatre
This new facility enables students to experiment and create innovative techniques in theatrical design, lighting, and sound engineering. The modular theater, used for testing design and researching creative activities, will be the only one of its kind in the world.

Technology program
Gifts to this academic program will provide educational opportunities in the areas of entertainment engineering technology, informatics, and other technology programs where the math and science requirements are less than for a traditional engineering and computer science program of study.

Center for Entrepreneurship
The entrepreneurship center provides education and research in the areas of technology transfer, business development, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property that would be closely affiliated with the college's biannual Senior Design Program. Private support for this center will help lead to advanced programming opportunities for students and research.

Renewable energy and research
This program fosters research in renewable energy and materials and nuclear engineering, including solar, geothermal, wind and hydrogen applications, material science, metallurgy, and materials performance. Private support will help students and faculty find breakthrough in energy to benefit our community, our region, and the world.

"Invent the Future"
Major support for the college will create endless opportunities for tomorrow's leaders in engineering. In honor of a significant gift, a donor may name endowed faculty chairs, professorships, graduate assistantships, or scholarships.

Private support for the Center for Entrepreneurship will fund programming opportunities like the annual Senior Design Competition.
