The School of Nursing offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of those entering nursing and current nurses who are interested in continuing their education. The school matches the needs of the students and health care consumers with the changing directions of health care in the areas of health promotion; disease prevention; health restoration; advancements in technology; and the communities served.

As part of the university's comprehensive campaign, the School of Nursing has identified the following key fundraising priorities:

Health sciences building
This new state-of-the-art building will have a center core containing classrooms, including a large computer lab; an advising center; and student lounges to be shared among all schools within the Division of Health Sciences, including health and human sciences, nursing, and public health.

Nursing skills lab
Private support will help renovate the lab and provide updated equipment, software, and ample database acquisition funds so that future nurses can be better educated to function in the high-tech health care environment.

Advising support
Support for the school's advising program provides high-quality academic and personal advising to students as advisors assist students with class scheduling, academic or career goals, and degree information.

Equipment, software, and database acquisition and replacement
The School of Nursing maintains rich academic resources for faculty and student research. Private support for these educational materials, as well as current technological tools, will help nursing students and faculty.

Faculty opportunity and development funds
Support for faculty research; teaching; and curriculum, professional, and educational development directly affects the diversity and quality of teaching our students receive, both inside and outside the classroom. This program also provides support to help the school recruit and retain outstanding faculty for programs in which few qualified candidates are available nationally.

Graduate student fellowships
Private support will fund graduate tuition, research costs, or similar items in the graduate program and are essential to attract nursing professionals back to the classroom for advanced education. These stipends may be combined with graduate assistant positions to enable students to focus on their studies rather than pursue outside employment.

Undergraduate student support
These funds provide support to allow students opportunities to excel academically, including merit-based scholarships, undergraduate assistantships, support for student organizations and events, and international exchange programs.

"Invent the Future"
Major support for the school will create endless opportunities for tomorrow's nursing professionals. In honor of a significant gift, a donor may name the School of Nursing, or endowed faculty chairs, professorships, or scholarships.
