Science and technology influence every aspect of our lives in this era of astonishing changes in communications, information processing, genetic engineering, materials sciences, medicine, transportation, and our understanding of the universe. Private support in the College of Sciences will bring opportunities for these advances to happen in our community, for our community.
As part of the university's comprehensive campaign, the College of Sciences has identified the following key fundraising priorities:
Science and Engineering Building (SEB)
The Science and Engineering Building (SEB),
now under construction, will provide students and faculty with
state-of-the-art equipment and facilities in a 190,000 square foot
structure containing laboratories, teaching space, conference rooms,
and integrated research space.
Center for Urban Horticulture and Water Conservation
The Center for Urban Horticulture and Water Conservation, a 10-acre site in North Las Vegas directed by Professor Dale Devitt, focuses on the use and conservation of water in our rapidly growing region. Donations to the center will help the research to conserve this scarce resource in our desert climate.
Instructional Laboratory Building (ILB)
This proposed facility will provide an innovative location for undergraduate teaching laboratories and classrooms for chemistry, geoscience, and the life sciences. The building may also house the dean's office and the undergraduate advising center.
Naming of departments
The College of Sciences is fully committed to excellence in education, research, and service in the areas of life sciences, earth sciences, physical sciences, and mathematical sciences and to the promotion of economic development that utilize these disciplines. A donor's gift to name the department of chemistry, geosciences, physics (and astronomy), and mathematics will provide for the resources necessary to make UNLV's programs a nationally recognized leader in science programs.
"Invent the Future"
Major support for the college will create endless opportunities for tomorrow's leaders in the sciences. In honor of a significant gift, a donor may name the College of Sciences or endowed faculty chairs, professorships, or scholarships.
