University College, the newest degree-granting unit at UNLV, serves students whose specific interests and future employment goals cannot be satisfied in a single major and students who have not yet determined an academic path.
As part of the university's comprehensive campaign, University College has identified the following key fundraising priorities:
Student development and support
Students have many opportunities to enhance their academic experiences beyond the classroom and internship programs, and development funds offer a route to expanded education at conferences, through research, or as participants in international programs. Additionally, scholarships and undergraduate assistantships allow students opportunities to excel academically, without worry of how to finance their educations.
Advising support
Support for University College's advising program provides high-quality academic and personal advising to students as advisors assist them with class scheduling, academic or career goals, and degree information.
Classrooms for tomorrow
Refreshed classrooms provide a stimulating, state-of-the-art environment for inquiry and exploration. They also serve as a repository and library for materials and resources to be utilized for the demonstration of effective classroom practices in mathematics, science, and social studies.
Faculty development
Faculty form the core of the school's excellent academic curriculum. Gifts to support continuing educational opportunities for faculty will in turn provide students direct access to professionals knowledgeable in a variety of disciplines.
Building funds
Private support will help fund dedicated University College facilities, including classrooms with state-of-the-art technology, office space for faculty, and areas for student organizations and events.
"Invent the Future"
Major support for the college will create endless opportunities for students. In honor of a significant gift, a donor may name University College or endowed faculty chairs, professorships, or scholarships.
