The Greenspun College of Urban Affairs offers unparalleled opportunities for students who want to make a difference in their communities and in the lives of others. Private support will help recruit and retain the best students and faculty; provide abundant opportunities for internships and other extracurricular programming; and help prepare students in the fields of communication, journalism, social work, and public administration.
As part of the university's comprehensive campaign, the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs has identified the following key fundraising priorities:
Endowed Chair in Environmental Studies
The department of environmental studies equips students with an understanding of the environmental challenges facing our world and with the skills necessary for a successful career in the field of environmental management. The department seeks funding to support a full professor of environmental studies, which will provide high quality education for students and bring prestige and recognition to UNLV.
Counseling center
In the Center for Individual, Couple and Family Counseling, graduate students, under the direct supervision of professionally qualified UNLV faculty members, provide general counseling and school counseling, marriage and family therapy, and psychological services. Private support will help expand the facility and program to accommodate a greater number of clients from campus and our community.
Naming Opportunities in Greenspun Hall
Through the ongoing generosity of the Greenspun family, the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies will have a new home in 2008. Greenspun Hall, a 122,700 square foot building with state of the art production and media facilities, will provide faculty and students the most current technology to compete in this ever-emerging field. Private support for naming spaces within the building will leave an indelible mark on UNLV and provide funding for student scholarships, faculty research and development, an endowed chair, and other ongoing projects.
Institute of Nonprofit Management
As part of the program in public administration, this institute is an emerging resource for charities throughout the Las Vegas valley. Endowed funds will support graduate assistantships and fellowships; fund research databases, projects, and journals; and help recruit and retain nationally recognized faculty.
Center for Analysis of Crime Statistics
The Center for Analysis of Crime Statistics will serve as the state repository for crime statistics and a resource for policy makers, researchers and the community to be able to find useful information related to crime and the criminal justice system. Private funding to endow the center will provide the resources needed to support graduate assistantships, staff, and infrastructure.
"Invent the Future"
Major support for the college will create endless opportunities for tomorrow's leaders in a number of fields. In honor of a significant gift, a donor may name endowed faculty chairs, professorships, or scholarships.
